Love knows no boundaries
Founded in 1975, we are an independent, donor-supported 503(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the welfare of companion animals in Southside Virginia. We are a no-kill organization and operate a shelter in Meherrin, Virginia, with capacity for 50 dogs, 12 litters of puppies, and 55 cats and kittens. Each year, we rescue, care for, adopt, and spay and neuter over 3,000 animals in our mostly rural, 12-county area.
Adoptions
Almost all the animals we offer for adoption are rescued by us or by others and transferred to us for care and adoption. All have been spayed or neutered and vaccinated, and if sick or injured at the time they were rescued, received medical treatment and found to be healthy and ready for adoption. For more information about our animals and our adoption process, visit the Adoptions page.

Support Southside SPCA
As a community-driven organization, Southside SPCA depends heavily on the support of donations and volunteers.
Donations directly impact the animals in our care and the life-saving services we provide for animals in our region, like our Spay & Neuter Program. Volunteers directly impact work through animal care, animal transport, and more.
We can’t do what we do without your support. Get involved and help us save and improve the lives of pets in Southside Virginia!
