Homebound Hounds
Over 7,000 puppies saved since 1995!
Our Homebound Hounds Program is one of the Southside SPCA’s most successful and longest-running programs and is an innovative approach to saving puppies in our rural service area.
Over 7,000 puppies have been saved since the program’s inception in 1995!
About the Program
County animal control facilities are overwhelmed with large volumes of puppies. Partnering with other reputable rescue organizations around Virginia that have successful adoption programs and a high demand for puppies allows us to save even more, doubling our impact!
We rescue, temporarily house, vaccinate and transport puppies to other rescue facilities for adoption. We are a conduit between county animal controls and other rescues, providing a lifesaving service that is truly one of a kind. Each month, we transport 20 to 25 puppies to reputable partners in Virginia and surrounding states for adoption. We save over 250 puppies each year from Southside Virginia through our Homebound Hounds Program!
Support Homebound Hounds
In partnership with several reputable agencies, we rescue puppies who are in Southside Virginia county animal pounds, surrendered or abandoned by their owners. Since its inception, the Southside SPCA has rescued over 7,000 puppies (and the occasional kitten) through this program. Our partners assist us with helping to find loving homes for these puppies. You can help us in our mission to save even more homeless puppies by supporting our Homebound Hounds program. Please donate now and designate “Homebound Hounds” with your donation!
