The Southside SPCA will discontinue our Saturday dog adoption events at the Chesterfield PetSmart on Car Mia Way until further notice. This response to the rapidly developing COVID-19 health emergency is for the protection of our volunteers and the public. We will continue to conduct adoptions at our shelter by appointment. Cat adoptions continue on a daily basis at PetSmart during business hours. If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat please contact us. Our shelter continues to be open during its regular hours.

During this time of national emergency, your shelter continues to need your support.
Your donations now will make a difference in our ability to continue caring for the homeless dogs and cats in our shelter as well as our ability to continue our rescue operations. Sadly, we anticipate an increase in the numbers of abandoned and surrendered animals in need of rescue during the difficult economic conditions that lie ahead – so please consider making a monetary donation and/or a donation of goods (bleach, cleaning supplies, cat litter (non-clumping), and dog and cat food).
If you are in the Farmville area, our friends at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites (404 Sunchase Blvd.) have agreed to be a local drop off point for donations of goods. Donations of goods also can be dropped off at the main shelter or shipped to: Southside SPCA, 7352 Patrick Henry Highway, Meherrin, VA 23954.
